PLATFORM Appeal Invitation

Railway Children needed some creative, persuasive copy for this invitation pack to recruit committee members for the PLATFORM Appeal.

The aim of Railway Children's PLATFORM Appeal is to raise funds from the corporate rail sector to help street children in India, many of whom make railway stations and platforms their makeshift homes.

Railway Children launched the PLATFORM Appeal by inviting selected members of the rail industry to form a committee to oversee and champion the appeal. Purple Squid wrote a persuasive invitation letter, to inform the invitees about the appeal and its aims, and to get them on board. An accompanying flyer, written by Purple Squid, gave the invitees a better understanding of the plight of the children who needed their help.

The invitation pack was sent as a 'message in a bottle', to reflect the fact that street children in India often have to collect old bottles for recycling in order to earn enough money to survive. Purple Squid wrote the labels for this packaging. Rob Capener from Stephen Talbot Advertising was the ideas man for this project, and Purple Squid worked alongside him to create together a very effective and creative product.

If only Rob were more generous with the biscuits during meetings, then this working relationship would be a match made in Heaven.
